In honor of valentines day this week I've been making some sweet treats that will have you feeling the love. I dipped slices of banana in dark chocolate and peanut butter, and topped them off with cocoa nibs and shredded coconut. I also dipped raw almonds in dark chocolate.
I like to use 72% dark chocolate, because its more cocoa and less sugar. Dark chocolate has resveratrol which is a powerful antioxidant. It aids in preventing cancer, protects your heart and blood cells, slows down the aging process, and normalizes your anti-inflammatory reaction levels. I know. All these benefits from dark chocolate?! It gets better..accompany your dark chocolate with red wine, and have a resveratrol packed valentines day dessert. Red wine is packed with even more resveratrol than dark chocolate. Whether you make these treats for someone you love or yourself, enjoy and remember you don't have to feel guilty after, because they are filled with nutritious sweetness.
- 1 package 72% dark chocolate
- 1 cup of almonds
- 2 bananas sliced
- shredded coconut
- cocoa nibs (optional)
- wax paper
Boil water in saucepan and place a glass bowl on top, add dark chocolate to glass bowl. Stir constantly until chocolate has melted. Dip half of almonds and banana in dark chcocolate then sprinkle shredded coconut on top. Place on top of cookie sheet with wax paper. Place in freezer for about 2-3 hours. Enjoy!
(You can also dip bananas in peanut butter or preferred nut butter and place in freezer)
