The sweetness of the dates and banana mixed with the rich chocolatey flavor from the cocao make this taste like a chocolate bar. Don't worry, you won't feel how you do after devouring a milkshake. Although, the creamy thick texture will remind you of those days when you did, but you won't feel awful and guilty after drinking this! This is my go-to morning smoothie, and you can have this with the almond butter (which I love for added protein and healthy fats), or you can have it without.
I'll drink this for breakfast because its substantial and delicious, or i'll make this after working out. Eating a mainly vegan plant-based diet, it's important to eat enough iron, and cocao is a superfood that is rich in iron and magnesium. Cocao tastes like chocolate..I need Iron to feel great..it's a win, win situation! It's also a great alternative for when your chocolate cravings arise. Craving chocolate? Make this cocao smoothie? Needing a quick chocolate fix? I'll even blend together dates with cocao and make mini balls to snack on in times of need. Natural sugar, and superfood nourishment all in one.
Eating healthy, isn't about getting rid of your favorite foods, it's about creating better versions of your favorite foods, and tweaking them to make them so that they are nourishing your body.
